South Main Arts District pioneer expanding his art with ‘Naked Truth Art Project’
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Three decades ago, the South Main Arts District was not what you see today.
Buildings were boarded up. But one art student from Nigeria decided he wanted to take the blank canvas and add some color.
Ephraim Urevbu immigrated to Memphis from Nigeria in the 1990s.
“The Mississippi River, we studied it in high school in Nigeria and all the major cities along the Mississippi River. And so when I got here, before I even put my suitcase down, I ran to the river and I saw the river," he said.
