In this episode of The Spark, Dr. Weiss sits down with artist Ephraim Urevbu who spearheaded the Naked Truth Art project, a body of work that consists of 150 pieces of art that explore race and reconciliation, telling untold stories, and connecting artists.

They talk about Ephraim's journey from Nigeria to Memphis to pursue his life's purpose, how he developed the South Main Arts District, how music and the Civil Rights Movement influence his work, the therapeutic qualities of having an artistic practice to process trauma, and how healing starts with conversation.

In this compelling episode of the cityCURRENT Show, host Andrew Bartolotta delves deep into the heart and soul of “The Naked Truth Art Project” with its creator, Ephraim Urevbu.

In the premiere episode of The Naked Truth Art Project, host Ephraim Urevbu sits down with Dave North to unravel the story behind their two-decade-long partnership and the inception of The Naked Truth Art Project. Reflecting on their journey to Rwanda, they discuss the vital role of art as a bridge for learning and understanding across cultures. They dive into how their project has leveraged art's transformative power to connect and educate, while gazing towards its future potential.

I interviewed Ephraim Urevbu a contemporary artist based in Memphis Tennessee. He shared his life experiences growing up in Nigeria then coming to the United States to study art and the ways the US did and did not fit with his expectations. We discussed his painting E Pluribus Unum and his work on The Naked Truth Project which seeks to spark conversations for an honest telling of America's history. One of the things that I really loved about speaking with Urevbu was his ability to discuss serious and painful truth while simultaneously recognizing the good and hope for the future.

Ephraim is originally from Nigeria and has lived in Memphis now from about 35 years. He’s a founding member of the “South Main arts district.” He is the C.O.O. of (Uu rev bu) Foundation, the owner of E.U. Enterprises, and for almost 33 years, an artist with (Uu rev bu) Contemporary at 410 S. Main Street in downtown Memphis. Thanks for joining me today, Ephraim (E from).
